The South Alabama COVID-19 Response Team announced on Feb. 16 that face masks are now optional on campus, effective immediately.

The COVID-19 Dashboard shows last week’s cases reached a total of 38. The COVID numbers have been trending downward since a peak that occurred the first week of the semester.

The COVID-19 Response Team wrote in an email to students and employees “the University reserves the right to require face masks or other health protocols in certain settings, and these requirements must be followed as announced.”

The email said the Response Team will continue to monitor the cases at South and will announce additional policy changes “as needed.”
