The bike-share company Lime has informed the University of South Alabama that it plans to cease operations on the USA campus by March 15, 2019, according to Associate Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator Dr. Krista Harrell.
“We have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with Lime and thank them for serving our campus community during this academic year,” Harrell said.
Company representatives will be coming to campus to collect the bikes during the next few weeks, according to Director of Marketing and Communications Bob Lowry.
“From my understanding, the program did not generate enough money unfortunately,” Student Government Association President Grace Newcombe said. “However, I am hopeful that this will not be the last bike rental program offered on our campus.”
USA was first introduced to Lime in April 2018 and students gained access to the bikes at the beginning of the following last semester.
